Ultreia, Czechia
The Czech Ultreia Association, translated as “further, just further”, was founded in 2008 on the impulse of enthusiasts who returned from the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and wanted to pass on this experience to others. Initially, the association focused mainly on providing information support for other pilgrims who wanted to make the journey, and also began publishing credencials. Over time, a network of 6 marked St. James’s Way trails was created in Bohemia, linking Poland, Germany and Austria. The shortest path through our territory is 149 km long and the longest 276.9 km. All sections are described in detail and included in the maps.
Thanks to the cooperation with the Czech Tourist Club (KČT), the routes are marked with a symbolic blue and yellow shell on the tourist crossroads. In addition, most of them follow historical pilgrimage routes. Currently, the association supports pilgrims by organizing seasonal pilgrimages, publishing pilgrim blogs or managing an accommodation platform called “Bed for a pilgrim”. Of course, there is constant information support for pilgrims. Partnerships with other like-minded local and international organisations are also an important part of this.
The Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow, Poland
