Fallóskúti Mária-kegyhely
Information about the pilgrimage site
There are many beautiful chapels and places of worship in the forests of Mátra, but Fallóskút has a special atmosphere. This is the youngest holy place in Hungary. The settlement of Mátraszentimre-Fallóskút is located in Mátra, and in terms of its administrative classification, it is a resort area. It lies in the middle of the 700-800 meter high area between the ridge of Mátra plateau (from Óvár to Ágasvár) to Galya-tetö to the east, the Bagolyirtás-Tóthegyes range to the south and the Nagyparlagpuszta basin. The area once belonged to Hasznos, and then became part of it with the establishment of Mátraszentimre. Perhaps the most well-known of the Upper Mátra churches was built here, which has now expanded into a pilgrimage site known throughout the country.which has now expanded into a pilgrimage site known throughout the country.
The history of the pilgrimage site dates back to 1947, when the Virgin appeared several times to a woman from Hasznó, Lászlón Sánta (Klára). At the time of the visions, Ms. Klára set out with her husband and together they found the spring, next to which a chapel was soon built. The construction of the small chapel began on the first day of September 1948. The chapel and its surroundings have changed a lot over the years.
The construction of the church began in the 1970s, and in 1988 a new tower was built in front of the old chapel. The following year, the new chapel was built, which was consecrated in 1990 in honor of the Queen of the Forests, while the construction of the Queen of Peace church was completed in 2006. The pilgrimage site is touched by the Mária road, it can also be reached by the tourist road marked from the surrounding settlements. The shrine can be reached very close by bus or car, and it is a short walk from the car parks. The well-kept and well-kept surroundings give visitors a cozy atmosphere.
The particularly beautiful, unique fire enamel stations in front of the chapel are the works of industrial artist Gábor Rácz. They were made in 1992 from donations from various settlements in the country, to which donations even came from overseas. The outdoor altar and the marble statue of Mary in front of the chapel were completed in 1996. Over the past years, the range of attractions has been continuously expanded, now a carved gate welcomes visitors and the statue of Mary in front of the chapel has also been covered.
